the future of online work. starting from today.

ki work differentiates itself from other freelance marketplaces in six main ways:

  •  portable ki-offers and ki-expertises
  •  accreditations
  •  narrowly targeted search for buyers
  •  driven by category specialists
  •  network of online work teams
  •  scalability
portable ki-offers and ki-expertise
in other marketplaces, professionals set up a single profile with the ability to show a wide range of expertise across a number of outsourcing categories. In ki work, professionals set up a generic profile with one or more detailed ki-offers or ‘elevator pitches’, each built round a specific outsourcing category. optimized by multiple keywords for search, these are intended to be ‘portable’ across your relevant social networks, job boards and blogs. this enables professionals to differentiate themselves from other professionals and to be more easily found by clients. ki experts offer their services on the same basis with a ki-expertise.

accreditations
in other marketplaces, professionals pay for subscriptions to get the benefit of higher ranking and unrestricted access to respond to bids. project buyers do not have any way of judging whether a subscription payer is any better than a non subscription payer. in ki work professionals pay a subscription in return for being accredited by a ki expert in their field. the ki expert in turn has been accredited by a category leader. assuming that the ki expert maintains a high level of reputation, this provides valuable information for the prospective buyer, knowing that a candidate has already been (at least partially) screened and vetted. it also adds real value to the professional's proposition. ki experts also provide a similar accreditation service for buyers, so that professionals can have a higher degree of confidence prior to bidding. this helps the buyer to attract better quality candidates.

narrowly targeted search for buyers
in other marketplaces, project buyers post requests for proposals (rfps) and invite professionals to bid, on a quasi reverse auction basis. most of the bids submitted on this basis tend to be irrelevant. in ki work, the project buyer uses a pin point search facility to find prospective candidates, review them based on their profiles, reputation and accreditation status, select from the total results presented, and email the RFP to the highly refined selection. the buyer pays only for the contacts selected. this process is faster, easier and cheaper for buyers than going through the cumbersome auction process and then paying for a percentage of the transaction.

driven by specialists in the field
category leaders and accredited ki experts share between them 85% of the total transaction value generated through ki work. the company is currently owned and managed by private investors and management. however, with the commitment and engagement of category leaders and their associated ki experts, it is intended that initially the governance and eventually the ownership will be transferred to the membership (similar to the structure currently enjoyed by visa, possibly the world's most scalable organization).

network of online work teams
by accrediting ki experts in the same category, category leaders are effectively creating networked businesses within the category, nested within a network of similar businesses, each focused within a specific category. this is designed to create a powerful "network effect", driving exponential growth for the participant businesses. besides ki experts, the major beneficiaries of this model are both buyers and professionals.

scalability
within the next 10 years, the above key differentiators are designed to enable ki work to scale rapidly to meet the demand from potentially 100 million online professionals worldwide wishing to offer their services directly to project buyers in a global business process outsourcing market.
