i'm a training consultant with a long and diverse background in real business. i've had the opportunity to use the techniques i now train over a 25 year period in business, and learnt at the time by trial and error, so i know what works and what doesn't!

i once heard someone say that good management and leadership is 'caring about people', but people have to be set boundaries, know about the implications of their actions - in short they need to know 'what looks good' as they implement strategies and plans to move the business forward.

during my 25 year in business i've worked in most areas of business - in all cases some themes are common, such as how to lead and motivate people, and how to build effective teams where everyone is working towards the same aim.

in 1980 i started working for royal mail in an administrative role. i moved through various jobs and into quality assurance management, project and programme management, then more senior roles in sales and marketing, and regional and interim management, where i was put in positions to remedy problem areas or improve the current operation to benefit the organisation or customer.

during part of this time i was also a commissioned officer in the territorial army and president of the cambridge junior chamber international chapter - in both of these roles leadership and team building were essential; in the latter i won a number of national and international awards for my professionalism and for the work i did.

in order to consolidate my experience i successfully completed a m.sc. in e-business and a postgraduate certificate in management. i also taught guitar part time while i studied for my m.sc. in order to maintain and further develop my tutoring and facilitation skills.

i recently developed ict/email awareness generic course which can either be delivered in its current format or it can be adapted to individual client requirements.
