PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
Deborah R. Leary
I am a well rounded supply chain professional with 15 years of progressively responsible roles. In the beginning, I graduated from the University of New England with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. My last three years of college, I was a dean’s list student with an average grade point of 3.8.
Upon graduation in 1980, I accepted a position with Xidex Corporation as an in process technician. Xidex manufactured and distributed microfilm products. I was promoted to chemical technician within a year and implemented new testing procedures to streamline the test process and improve efficiencies.
In 1985 I accepted a position with Ludlow Specialty Papers as a Quality Engineer. During my employment with Ludlow, I organized the quality department and set up process procedures for the manufacture and printing of specialty grades of charting papers used in medical and military applications.
In 1987 I was offered a position with Waldorf Corporation as their assistant quality manager. I was responsible for the management of three in-process quality technicians and the development and deployment of a new quality manual for the organization. Waldorf was a specialty converter and printer of high end packaging products.
In 1989 I accepted a position with Rexam Graphics as their materials manager and within a year I was promoted to procurement specialist and tasked with the implementation of a supplier quality management system. Within the first two years we were able to certify ten key suppliers and evaluate 120 second tier suppliers. While in this position I was a member of the national purchasing association and attended many of their purchasing and supply chain seminars (Contract law, Negotiation principles, purchasing procedures and processes, Price/cost analysis). Rexam Graphics manufactures various graphic arts sub straights as well as specialty products such as photoresist, phototool, Battery components, and computer substraights.
In 1998 I was recruited by International Paper as their Purchasing manager in Millers Falls Massachusetts. International Paper is a world leader in the area of decorative paper manufacturing.
In this position I set up consignment inventories, negotiated long term fuel oil contracts to reduce facility costs by $200, 0000 in the first year. I was also responsible for negotiation of a $1.5M contract to rebuild one of the paper machines.
In 2000 I took a position closer to home with Hampden Papers Inc. as their Director of Materials. Hampden Papers is a manufacturer of decorative papers, foils and board products for the specialty high end box industry. I was involved with the selection of suppliers and products for new and existing products as well as advertizing media.
As the Director of Materials it was my responsibility to manage the materials used in the manufacturing and planning process. I had three purchasing agents who reported to me as well as planning personnel. We were able to reduce inventory and consolidate supply by negotiation of multiple year contracts with key suppliers both domestic and foreign.
In 2003 I relocated to Arizona for personal reasons. For about a year I worked for the TSA as a Security Officer at phoenix Sky Harbor while looking for employment in my chosen field.
In July of 2004 I accepted a position at ANALYZE Inc/ VB Cosmetics, Inc. as the Supply Chain Manager. ANALYZE Inc is privately owned company which specializes in the manufacture of industrial adhesives and specialty chemicals. VB Cosmetics, Inc. manufactures personal care products such as cell enhancing creams, nail lacquers, and anti aging creams. During the next four years I successfully set up the purchasing and planning process within the company. We were able to reduce inventory and consolidate supply to produce shorter cycle time to customers. I was also successful in implementing ISO 9001:2000 certification in a record four months span of time. I was intimately involved in the purchase of marketing materials for VB Cosmetics. Some printing suppliers include Printfast, ApeX Design & Print, Exhibit Express, Thunderbird Graphics, Unisource, and Prime Source, LLC.
In summary, I have chosen the path of supply chain management and have progressively moved in an increasingly responsible role to reach this point in my career. I am looking for the best possible situation for both me and my next employer. For me that situation will include excellent working conditions, competent coworkers, and a commitment by the employer to consistently strive for long term growth and employee satisfaction. What I offer is my 15 years of supply management experience, quality management, and customer commitment.
