eBusiness Suite Application Database Administrator (DBA

Minimum Qualifications for both positions:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related technical discipline, or 5 additional years of relevant Oracle eBusiness Suite professional experience, as determined by WSSC.



Position #1



eBusiness Suite Application Database Administrator (DBA): 5 years experience (minimum) working in the role of an Oracle Applications DBA with the following qualifications:



1) Demonstrated successful experience in technologies that support Oracle eBusiness Suite/10g database, to include:

a. Oracle Real Application Cluster

b. Oracle BPEL and Workflow

c. Oracle Form/Report

d. Oracle J2EE Server (OC4J and Weblogic)

e. Content management

f. Identity management (single-sign-on, LDAP) – Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMW) (new version of 10g application server)



2) Demonstrated successful experience performing the following tasks:

a. Creation and configuration of Conference Room Pilots (CRPs) for eBusiness Suite

b. Installation and initialization of eBusiness Suite modules/applications

c. Implementation and upgrade of eBusiness Suite modules/applications

d. Installation and upgrades to Oracle 10g database

e. 10g Database and R12 application tuning

f. Trouble-shooting of application issues

g. Design and implementation of online hot backup strategy

h. Design and management of load balancing and high availability architecture

i. Implementation of R12 server security

j. Instance cloning

k. Application/database/middleware patching



3) Demonstrated successful experience upgrading/installing eBusiness Suite Applications/modues, specifically referencing each release upgrade performed



Oracle Application Database Administrator: in addition to the knowledge and responsibilities of a Database Administrator the Application Database Administrator (Contractor) is responsible for:



Application fundamentals such as concepts and architecture
Application Installation and configuration
Patching and Upgrades
Patch management and Version Control
Customization Updates
Cloning requirements, which can be frequent in Apps environment
Concurrent managers
Forms/Reports Servers
WebServers
All the “ad” utilities
All the database restrictions for the applications, so that the installation is still supportable and conforms to all vendor (oracle) requirements
All special application related regular and maintenance functions, such as month end and period end functions
Understand any backup and recovery constraints, such as for table imports (NOT) and partial recoveries
Special requirements and restrictions for tuning, e.g., optimizer and index requirements

Key elements in Database Administrator’s job are:

Ensure optimum performance of database systems
Understand various platforms
Plan, design and implement database security
Maintain and upgrade database systems
Establish policies and procedures for staff
Stay abreast of changing technologies and design techniques

Analyze data quality and usage
Identify user requirements and add new users as needed
